In our last update in the summer of 2020, we shared our vision and timetable for UCLA’s financial system transformation project known as Ascend. We are now pleased to announce that the Ascend Project will relaunch on October 1, 2021.

The Ascend Project has finalized the UCLA Chart of Accounts (CoA), a critical milestone that is imperative to UCLA financial operations. The CoA will replace the current Full Accounting Unit (FAU) structure for recording financial transactions.

The Ascend Project Launches at UCLA

UCLA is happy to announce the launch of the Ascend Project, which aims to modernize UCLA's aging financial systems with Oracle Cloud.  

Ascend is a comprehensive, multi-workstream initiative that has a planned duration of two years, culminating with the new system's go-live in July, 2021. 

UCLA’s legacy financial systems were designed decades ago using now-outdated technology. Today’s technology continues to evolve rapidly. As one of the world’s most prestigious public research universities, UCLA and its financial systems must also evolve.
