Bruin Finance

The Ascend 2.0 Program will introduce a campus-wide data repository known as the Financial Integration Hub (or FIH). The FIH will house both Oracle and non-Oracle data, which will provide a single source of truth for data needs at UCLA. It will combine data from multiple systems and tools for easy access to financial reports and analytics. Many users – including those from central, campus, and research departments, as well as users of systems that will integrate with Oracle (also known as boundary systems) and other UCLA analysts – will have access to the FIH for their reporting needs once Bruin Finance launches.

The Campus Reporting Workgroup and Research Reporting Subcommittee have worked together with the program’s Financial Reporting & Business Analytics and Grants teams to identify, prioritize, design, and test reports that will be available when Bruin Finance launches. The initial suite of reports available will enable UCLA to have streamlined access and standardization made possible by a “one-stop shop” in the FIH, consistency of data allowed by a single “source of truth,” and self-service functionality to customize existing exports.

The Financial Report Suite is a collection of reports that faculty and staff of the research community will use to manage Award and Project finances. The new Financial Report Suite will bring many benefits to the research community, including:

  • Standard reports replacing the various tools campus has used for this purpose
  • Consolidated Award & Portfolio and PI-level data for Sponsored & Non-Sponsored Awards
  • Consistent structure of report throughout project lifecycle, including closeout packet

In the January Ascend 2.0 Town Hall, the program was excited to spotlight a few of the new reports that will be made available through the Financial Report Suite, including the Award & Project Report, Expense Transactions Report, Payroll Report, Subagreement & Independent Contractor Activity Report, and Closeout Packet.
