BruinBuy Plus

To help ensure that campus requirements are met when the first release of BruinBuy Plus launches later this year, a select group of current BruinBuy users will have the opportunity to experience and test BruinBuy Plus via User Acceptance Testing (UAT) this summer.

What’s Next? This fall, after UAT, training opportunities will be offered to future users of BruinBuy Plus across campus. Stay tuned for more information about training resources and opportunities in the coming months. Make sure to keep an eye out for updates in our Ascend 2.0 newsletters and on the BruinBuy Plus section of the website. In the meantime, review the BruinBuy Plus Roadshow recording and BruinBuy Plus Shopping Overview to preview how the new system will work.

Bruin Finance

As we continue to design and configure Bruin Finance, we are committed to listening to feedback from current users across campus. This month, we look to identify campus subject matter experts (SMEs). These campus members are familiar with current processes and will provide feedback needed to develop the system in a way that reflects UCLA’s business processes and requirements.

Beginning in July, these campus SMEs will take part in working sessions that focus on each module of Bruin Finance (e.g., Sponsored Projects, General Ledger). They will preview an early version of Bruin Finance (powered by Oracle Cloud) through overviews, or “demos”, and then will provide feedback on the system design and functionality. Based on their feedback, we will work to modify and improve the design and functionality of Bruin Finance before the system is launched to the broader campus.

Mapping the existing Full Accounting Unit (FAU) to the new Chart to Accounts (CoA) is critical to the success of the modernization of UCLA’s financial systems. Thank you to all of UCLA’s Finance Leaders, Mapping Experts, and Chart of Accounts team - who dedicated time over the last several months to successfully complete this mapping.

Over the past two months, we have worked with over 200 campus representatives, representing 49 campus organizations, to map about 1.8 million FAUs to the new CoA. We greatly appreciate the dedication shown across campus to this effort. Thanks to you, we will be able to shape the future of financial reporting at UCLA and ensure the success of the Ascend 2.0 Program.

Want to learn more about the Chart of Accounts? The CoA team is continuing outreach to our campus partners to spread awareness of the Chart of Accounts. Beginning in June, the CoA team will conduct monthly outreach sessions with targeted campus stakeholder groups to discuss upcoming CoA team activities and different components of the CoA. Topics will include more detailed reviews of the Account and Fund segments, Oracle system previews, and other educational opportunities.
